Esther Irene Brodie, better known as "Ms. Esther", was born on December 2, 1960 to Thurston Brodie, Sr. and Viola Elizabeth Johnson Brodie. Of her siblings, Esther was the oldest daughter and was proud to be the only one of her siblings with a biblical name. She would oftentimes reference this when expressing her love for Christ. She gave her heart to God at an early age, and devoted her life to serving him.

As a young adult, she became a licensed cosmetologist. Earning her an additional nickname, “the hair doctor”. In her second act she went on to become a human service counselor, where she fulfilled her dream of being able to talk for a living.

A licensed and ordained Elder, Esther would often recite Psalm 34:8. But with her own spin. “O taste and see that the Lord is good. I tried Him and He is delicious." She also had a passion for street ministry, as well as mentoring others in the gospel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thurston Brodie, Jr..

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Sydney Daniels of Louisburg, NC; three sisters, Michelle Smith (Tracy) of Louisburg, NC, Dr. Vickie Mann Rogers and Lisa Lane (Maurice) both of Bunn, NC; two brothers, Gennie Brodie (Virginia) of Bunn, NC and Charles Earl Brodie of Louisburg, NC; sister-in-law, Linda Alston Brodie; three bonus children, Shwanda Thomas Wiggins of Franklinton, NC, Jessica Thomas Alston (Eric) of Louisburg, NC and Roderick Daniels of Raleigh, NC; two aunts, Alice Rogers of Bunn, NC and Marie Brodie of Newport News, VA; two nieces and three nephews, Tonia and Thomasina, Thurston, Dillon and Justin; three great nephews and two great nieces; her close friends, Remonia Macon, Barbara Ann Spivey, and Margaret Harris; as well as a host of other family friends, sons and daughters in the gospel.
